RAJOURI, Sept 18: After seven hours relaxation, curfew was again imposed in the township of Rajouri one hour ahead of schedule after some youth from one community came out on the roads and started protest demonstration while police arrested five more persons for arson and stone pelting on September 14.
As the situation improved in the troubled town, the district administration gave relaxation in the curfew from 9.30 am to 6 pm in Rajouri town. However, most of the shops belonging to minority community remained closed during the day. The traffic plied normal on the roads. The situation remained normal during relaxation.
At around 4 pm, a large number of youth from one community took out strong protest march at Jawahar Nagar and raised slogans against Police and District Administration. They were demanding release of Vishal Kumar, arrest of people involved in setting shops on fire and stone pelting, causing damage to public property and compensation for the losses suffered by the traders.
They blocked road for about one and half hour and disrupted movement of traffic. The SSP Rajeshwar Singh and Addl DC Rajouri Mumtaz reached there and they assured the agitating people that all those responsible for the violence will not be spared. The youth also alleged that police was shielding some youth identified by the traders during attack on their shops.
Sensing possible clash and violence again, the district administration imposed curfew at around 5.15 am, ahead of schedule. The police vans started moving in the town spreading information of clamping curfew. The people started rushing towards their homes.
Meanwhile, the police teams during overnight raids under the supervision of SSP, arrested five more persons for arson in Rajouri town. They were identified as Haq Nawaz, son of Manzoor Hussain, resident of Ward No. 9 Rajouri; Autal Mirza, son of Moheeb Hussain, resident of Kheora; Tahir Mehmood , son of Abdul Hamid from Fatehpur; Mohd Rafi, son of Mohd Shafi and Shafayat Shah, son of Shah Hussain, resident of San Samad.
