JAMMU, Mar 28: Maintaining that curbing militancy is on top priority of the Police, the newly appointed Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Rajesh Kumar has called for more alertness in the force to meet any challenge on this front.
“Keeping in view of recent incidents in Kashmir valley and overall scenario regarding militancy, we need to be alert and prepared enough to meet any challenge on this front,” he said during his maiden interaction with media persons here today after taking over as IGP Jammu.
Admitting that law and order is primary job of the Police and focus will remain on improving the same, Rajesh Kumar said that preventive policing and security of women were also on his priority list. “Our focus will be on preventive policing to stop the crime before it happens while crime against women will not be tolerated at any cost,” he said and added that city policing was on his agenda.
The IGP listed other core policing areas like the menace of drugs and said that noose would be tightened against drug mafia while services given by police would become time bound. “We will ensure that services given by police, like verification of passport, delivery of summons and warrants etc are done in a time bound manner,” he said.
