Cultural Academy felicitates Rattan Parimoo

JAMMU, Apr 23:  Rattan Parimoo, a celebrated art historian and painter of the country, was felicitated here today by the Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu.
On the occasion, a short film on his life and works was also shown which gave a glimpse of his long journey as artist and art historian.
The officiating Secretary of the Academy, Haroon Rashid, said that the Academy has proud privilege to felicitate   and highlight the works of celebrated artist of the country whose paintings are filled with his entrenched attachment with his native land. Parimoo’s paintings like Habba Kadal, Dal Lake, Kashmiri family, Tongas reflects his nostalgic emotions, he added.
The prominent persons, present on the occasion, included GR Hasrat Gadda, ND Jamwal, Moti Lal Kemmu, O P Sharma, Young Burman, Suman Gupta, Rohit Sharma, and a galaxy of writers, poets and artists including students of Music and Fine Arts College. The proceedings were conducted by Dr  Shahnawaz, Editor cum cultural officer, Gojri.
Parimoo, son of the soil, is reckoned as one of the most prominent art historians and painters in modern India. The genre and style that is reflected through his paintings cannot be bracketed. He floats smoothly from one form to manifestation of another. Rattan Parimoo was born in Habba Kadal Srinagar and has served as the Faculty of Fine Arts MS University Baroda in1955. He has written over 20 books on different topics and contributed over hundred research oriented articles in leading magazines of the country. His paintings adorned walls of famous art galleries in the country as well as in abroad.
