CUJ students protest against six times hike in transport charges

JAMMU, July 30:  Up in arms against more than six times hike in transportation charges by the Central University Jammu, students of different departments today held a strong protest demonstration against the university administration.
The protesting students raised slogans against Vice-Chancellor and the university administration. They were demanding immediate roll back of the hike in transportation charges, which have been raised from Rs one thousand per semester to Rs 1250 per month.
The agitating students assembled near Administration block of the Central University at Bhagla Campus and started raising slogans against the university administration. They alleged that the officers concerned in university administration were forcing the students to pay for their own luxuries.
The protest demonstration continued for more than two hours despite attempts of negotiation by the university administration.
Later, the students dispersed off with a warning to continue the strike till CUJ rolls back hike in the transportation charges.
