JAMMU, June 8: A two-day national workshop on “Fabrication of Low cost Learning Resources” is being organized by the School of Education, Central University of Jammu, under Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) scheme of Government of India.
The inaugural session of the workshop was graced by Prof B S Mann, Member and Vice Chairman, National Commission for Minority Educational Institutes, MHRD, New Delhi and Prof Ashok Aima, Vice-Chancellor, CUJ.
In his address, Prof Ashok Aima appealed the educators to play a significant role in this COVID-19 pandemic. He complemented the Department for organizing such programme in the present geopolitical scenario.
Prof B S Mann, the chief guest of the Inaugural session, emphasized to explore opportunities in this challenging time of COVID-19. He discussed about the collaboration of University with other stakeholders of MHRD to serve the humanity in a better way. Referring to the Ekal Vidhyalays, he discussed various issues and challenges these Vidhyalyas are facing and urged the University to come forward with a model to help economically weaker students.
The workshop helped the participants to clarify, correlate and coordinate various concepts by hands on live demonstrative and practical sessions. There were total 7 sessions in the workshop including online and offline sessions. In the online sessions, the experts demonstrated the fabrication of puppets, 3D figures and figures of birds, rabbits for storytelling, creating awareness and teaching effectively.
Dr Pramod Sharma from CIET, NCERT, very beautifully demonstrated the role of puppetry in teaching learning process. He also displayed live demonstrations of preparation of bird and animal figures to make learning long lasting.
Mateen Ansari from Meerut took the session on preparation and use of very low cost material in making Mathematics easy and interesting. He used tooth picks, match sticks, earbuds, beads etc to fabricate various 3D figures, angles, squares rectangles and many more concepts of basic Mathematics.
Manish Gulati will be taking a live session tomorrow on fabrication of resources related to basic sciences. The participants’ reflections and demonstrations will also be recorded live on G-Meet tomorrow.
The whole workshop has been arranged by the School of Education, CUJ.
