CUJ organizes meet on ‘Feasibility of NCTE Regulations in J&K’

JAMMU, Feb 28: School of Education under Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT), Central University of Jammu organized Regional Consultative Meet on Feasibility of NCTE Regulations in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Representatives of the institutions offering teacher education programmes in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir took part in the event to have dialogue on various themes.
The inaugural session of the meet was presided over by CUJ Vice Chancellor Prof Ashok Aima while Prof K Ramachandran, Advisor, AIPEA, New Delhi, was the key note speaker of all the four sessions of the meet.
In his inaugural address, Prof Ashok Aima, Vice-Chancellor, CUJ, emphasized that learning has got outside the classroom, classroom should become the theater of learning and teacher must retain his/her relevance in the classroom.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr Kiran, Coordinator, Centre for Pedagogic Studies, School of Education (PMMMNMTT) whereas Dr J N Baliya, Programme Coordinator, School of Education (PMMMNMTT) and HoD, Department of Educational Studies, CUJ, gave brief introduction about the consultative meeting and the purpose of having it.
The key note speaker, Prof K Ramachandran talked about the changing role of NCTE in future to maintain professional standards of teacher education so that the future teacher will be able to design and develop the curricula and learning experiences as per the needs and requirements of the learners. He also explained that the curriculum of teacher education should be multidisciplinary in nature so that multi-capacities should be developed among the children. In order to attain quality in education, he said there should be balance between demand and supply of the teachers.
The meet was attended by various eminent delegates from different higher level institution of teacher education programme including Heads and Deans from various colleges and universities.
In the concluding remarks, Dr Aman, Assistant Professor, CUJ, shared the key points and suggestion which has been emerged in the meet in four different themes. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Ritu Bakshi, Associate Professor, Department of Educational Studies.
