JAMMU, Jan 23: The Institute Innovation Council (IIC) of the Central University of Jammu successfully concluded the first day of CU Jammu Hackathon 2026 in collaboration with CUJ SITE Council, a two-day innovation event being organized at the SDCSS (ISRO Building) premises of the university campus.
On the opening day, the Hackathon witnessed participation from 31 teams, with all teams presenting their innovative ideas and project prototypes before the jury panel. The participants demonstrated strong problem-solving skills and explained their concepts with clarity and confidence.
The event was inaugurated by Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Jammu, who interacted with the participants and reviewed the projects.
Several innovative ideas were showcased during the day. Among the projects two particularly notable were an acoustic-based system for detecting microplastics in water samples and a Structural Health Monitoring System aimed at predicting the lifespan and safety of buildings and bridges.
The Hackathon is being overseen by Prof. Rakesh Kumar Jha, In-charge CEO, SITEC and President, Institute Innovation Council, while Dr. Vinita Sharma, Convenor, IIC, is coordinating the event.
The organizing team is supported by IIC staff member Naveen Kumar and student volunteers.
