Cuba Ambassador, JU VC, others call on Governor

SRINAGAR, June 3: Tsewang Namgyal, Indian Ambassador to Cuba, called on Governor N N Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Recalling the historically strong ties between the two countries, the Governor suggested to Ambassador Namgyal to invite the Cuban authorities to explore the fruitful possibilities which exist in J&K for establishing mutually beneficial projects.
He also referred to the high potential of Indo-Cuban collaborations in the education sector and fostering of joint research programmes in identified fields.
Prof. R.D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu also called on Governor.
The Governor discussed with Prof. Sharma several important issues, including the functioning of the Credit System, the forthcoming Admissions and issues relating to the Off-site Campuses. The Governor re-iterated his concern about the need for the maintenance of high standards of discipline and academic excellence by the students and the Faculties.
Dr. Girija Dhar, Chairperson, Kashmir Intervention, Guild of Services, accompanied by Meera Khanna also called on Governor.
Dr. Dhar apprised the Governor about the various programmes being run by the Guild of Services in Kashmir for the economically weaker and conflict affected women and children and differently abled persons.
Dr. A.R. Trag, former Vice-Chancellor, Islamic University of Sciences &Technology also met Governor and discussed major challenges in the field of higher education in the State.
