Jammu, Mar 31: The Department of CTVS, Govt Medical College Jammu organised a CME program to commemorate DVT awareness month in collaboration with distinguished faculty from Department of Endovascular surgery Medanta hospital Gurugram and Medical Education Unit of GMC Jammu
The CME was chaired by Principal and Dean Govt Medical College Jammu Dr Sunanda Raina and the visiting faculty included Dr Rajiv Parakh Chairman of peripheral and Endovascular surgery and Dr Tapish Sahu Senior Consultant From Medanta hospital
CME coordinator Dr Arvind Kohli emphasized the importance regarding awareness about deep vein thrombosis because it is one of the leading causes of mortality around the world with about 3000000 mortalities one should be aware of measures to prevent deep vein thrombosis to happen for which the best remedy is to walk a lot. In addition to this one should know about the risk factors which are important for development of deep vein thrombosis. Keeping these risk factors in mind one can prevent DVT to happen, he said.
Dr Rajiv Parakh delieved a lecture on deep vein thrombosis management along with impact of newer anticoagulants in management of DVT and there efficiency in managing them
He also elaborated upon the newer modalities for surgical management of DVT, May thunner syndrome, IVC filters and venous stents
Dr Tapish Sahu spoke about management of dysvascular diabetic foot and measures to prevent amputations in these diabetic feet patients
The event was also associated for elaborating the details regarding the forthcoming Silver jubilee meeting of Vascular Society of India to be organized by Department of CTVS at Jammu from October 3 to 6.
Dr Kohli, who is the organizing secretary of VSICON 2018, detailed about the meeting, which is going to have significant international delegate participation
