JAMMU, June 6: Chamber of Traders Federation (Jammu province) today projected the issues of truckers operating from Railway goods shed Jammu before the Divisional Commissioner Jammu here today.
A delegation of Local Truck Owners Union, Railway Station Jammu led by president Chamber of Traders Federation Neeraj Anand met the Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Pawan Kotwal and submitted a memorandum of demands and discussed in detail the problems being faced by the local truck operators at Railway goods shed, Jammu.
They said as the Jammu Railway Station is going to be expanded and modernized and the goods shed Jammu, catering to the demand of Jammu region is also going to be affected by the same but as on date no discussions on the part of planning are held by Railway authorities with the concerned stake holders . The transporters and business men who are bringing their material at goods shed Jammu like cement, iron, food grains, fertilizers and other general goods are worried.
CTF president apprised the Divisional Commissioner Jammu that since position is not clear about shifting of goods shed Jammu to any other place, therefore, his intervention into the matter was necessary to address their aspirations. He demanded that a meeting with the senior Railway officers may be fixed so that plan of expansion may be discussed with them, and a proper site for the truckers is also allotted. The Divisional Commissioner listened to their issues and assured to fix a meeting with the Railway officials where representatives from stake holders will also be invited.
The delegation comprised Manmohan Singh Khalsa (president LTOU), Naseer Ahmed (chairman), Kanwaljeet Singh, Harmeet Singh, Rashpal Singh and Gurcharan Singh.
