CTA meets CS, discusses demands

JAMMU, Dec 24: J&K College Teachers Association (CTA) has strongly condemned the attempts of School Education Department to appoint non-academicians to the post of Chairman & Secretary, J&K Board of Secondary Education, here today.
Calling on the Chief Secretary,  Mohd Iqbal Khandey, the president J&K CTA, Dr Avinash Kumar Gupta conveyed the resentment of College Teaching community at the recent advertisement by the Secretary School Education department, inviting applications for the said posts, wherein the posts have been downgraded to eliminate College Principals & University professors from being appointed as chairman & Secretary.
Ironically, the joint secretary posts in BOSE are of higher cadre than the advertised posts. The Association has impressed upon the Chief Secretary that since inception of the J&K BOSE, only academicians from Colleges & universities have held these assignments and any deviation from the established norms would be detrimental to the cause of the students and teaching community which would not remain silent spectators.
The association also demanded parity in superannuation age with the University teachers, as College as well as university teachers are governed by the same UGC regulations. Other delegation members included Dr Satesh Bhan, general secretary, Dr Chanchal Khajuria, Dr Neeraj Gupta and others.
