JAMMU, June 16: An emergency meeting of the College Teachers Association, Jammu wing was convened by president CTA, Dr Sanjeev Verma to discuss the various pending issues of college teachers.
The issue regarding issuance of the placement orders of college teachers was taken up and discussed. The association took strong exception to the dilly dallying tactics of the Government, even though placement of teachers was pending for the last four years. The Minister for Higher Education had assured the association that orders in this regard shall be issued by the end of May and still the department is sleeping over the file.
The demand concerning anomalies in SRO-124 and increment on placements was also discussed. It was observed that although the association had taken up the matter with Higher Education Department time and again, still there has been no progress on this front , although the department has already been assuring the association that the issue was under their active consideration.
The association discussed the issue of transfer of teachers who have given their tenure outside. It was decided to take up their cases strongly with the Department.
Other issues of the College Teachers such as enhancing of age of superannuation, creation of post of Professor in colleges, permission for part time PhD, extending the benefit of SRO-222 to the college teachers and charging the nomenclature of RTI in colleges as per UGC norms were also taken up in the meeting.
