CTA delegation meets Secy Higher Education

JAMMU, Apr 16: A delegation of College Teachers’ Association (CTA) led by its president, Dr Sanjay Verma, met Commissioner/Secretary, Higher Education Department, Sarita Chouhan and discussed the issues concerning to teaching fraternity.
The delegation raised the demand of issuance of order of placement of teachers in different higher grades and stressed the need to expedite the same. The Secretary told the delegation that the matter was under process and the orders in this regard will be made shortly.
The CTA president also raised the issue of anomalies in the recently issued SRO-124 by the State Government to which the Secretary told the delegation that the Government was seized of the matter and it was contemplating to take some positive action in this regard.
The Association also raised the issue of non-payment of salaries for last four months to teachers, who are adjudged against the plan posts in different colleges. The other issues that were taken up with the Secretary were framing of a transparent transfer policy, enhancement of age of superannuation to 62 years at par with university teachers, extending the benefit of SRO-222 to the college teachers for pre-PHD course, etc.
Besides, the delegation expressed their strong resentment over the recent incident in which SDM Gandoh had tried to denigrate the office of the Principal of Degree College, Kilotran.
The Secretary assured the delegation that all their genuine issues will be addressed soon.
Prof DS Manhas, Prof Narayan Dutt, Dr Anil Ganjoo, Dr Sunil Gupta, Prof Hans Raj, Dr Ranjot Singh and Dr Vishal Sharma were part of the delegation.
