JAMMU, Nov 24: A delegation of College Teachers Association, led by the president CTA Dr Sanjay Verma met Commissioner/ Secretary, Higher Education Department, Sarita Chouhan to discuss the issues concernment to the teaching fraternity.
In the meeting, CTA raised the demands of issuance of order of placement of teachers in Associate Professors Grade which is pending for a long time now and stressed the need to expedite the same. The president of the association informed her that there are maximum number of such cases, whose placement to associate grade is pending and most of the teachers are either on the verge of reaching the next grade or have already crossed the grade.
The Secretary informed that the matter was under process and was seized of the matter and was contemplating to take positive action in this regard.
The association further stressed that the college teachers who were detained on examination duty during the summer vacations and who surrender their remuneration should be treated on duty during that period. The demand was earlier raised with department but till now no directions in this regard have been issued by the department.
The issue regarding increment on placement from one grade pay to other was also raised by the association, as this benefit has already been extended in favour of the State Government/Central Government employees and University Employees UGC has also clarified that college teachers are entitled for the increment.
The association also raised other demands of extending the benefits of SRO-222 to the college teachers, release of grant for salary, creation of post of Professors, C/S informed that all these demands were under active consideration of the Government.
The delegation included Prof D S Manhas, Prof Narayan Dutt, Dr Anil Ganjoo, Dr Sunil Gupta and Prof Hans Raj.
