JAMMU, Apr 22: A delegation of College Teachers Association led by the president CTA Jammu (wing) Dr Sanjay Verma called on Minister of Higher Education Naeem Akhtar and informed him that the demands of the Association were still pending.
CTA raised the demand of issuance of order of placement of teachers in different higher grade and informed him that the matter was still unresolved. The teacher’s placement was still pending for last four years and the department was not able to solve the issue for one reason or the other.
The demands concerning anomalies in SRO-124 was highlighted and discussed with the minister and it was suggested that SRO-124 has to be implemented in the same manner as done by the UGC in implementing the sixth Pay Commission on the recommendations of MHRD vide notification number 1-32/2006-U.11/U.1. The association also informed the Minister that different State Governments like Haryana had implemented the same as per UGC norms.
Others demands like enhancing of the age of superannuation, creation of post of Professor in colleges, transparent transfer policy, permission for part time Ph.D, extending the benefit of SRO-222 to the college teachers and charging the nomenclature of PTI in colleges as per UGC norms were also taken up in the meeting.
The Minister gave a patient hearing and issued directions to the department that the placement order should be issued by the end of next month positively and further directed that issues regarding SRO-124 should be resolved very soon. He agreed in principle that all the demands of the college teachers will be taken care of in due course of time.
CTA assured the Minister that College Teacher will try their utmost to come up to the expectations of the administration and requested the Minister to take immediate steps in resolving the pending demands so that conductive atmosphere is created for producing the desired results of uplifting the educational standards.
The delegation included Prof M S Saini, Prof D S Manhas, Dr Anil Ganjoo, Dr Sunil Gupta, Prof Narayan Dutt and Prof Hans Raj.
