JAMMU, Sept 18: The CT Scan machine in Emergency Unit of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) is out of order for last two days as a result the patients were suffering.
Not only this, one of the lift meant for patients has also gone out of order for the past many months but the hospital authorities were least bothered about it.
Hundreds of patients who come from far flung areas of Jammu as well as other districts of the State for CT Scan are suffering due to non-functioning of said machine of the Emergency Section, as the doctors are either referring them to PP mode CT Scan machine in the hospital or nearby Chest Diseases Hospital while most of the patients are compelled to go to the private clinics.
Similarly, with one of the lift for patients has been non-functional for last many months and the patients as well as attendants are suffering, especially when they have to climb the sets of the staircases.
When contacted Medical Superintendent, GMCH, Ravinder Rattan Pal, said it is true that the CT Scan machine of Emergency Unit of the Hospital is non functional for last two days due to some snag. We have forwarded the complaint in this concern and hopefully it will be made functional within two days, as technicians from Delhi were arriving here to repair the machine.
On non-functioning of the patients’ lift, he said there are two lifts for patients in the Hospital, one of which has already been replaced with new one and it will be made functional within a week after proper trial. While the proposal for the replacement of other lift has already been sent, he said, adding as soon as funds are made available, that will also be replaced with new one. However, the emergency lift is functional and patients are free to use it, he added.
