CS reviews preparation for Gram Swaraj Abhiyan

JAMMU, Apr 6: Chief Secretary, B B Vyas today reviewed the preparation of various State Government departments in regard to the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan-a special multi-departmental and multi-sectoral initiative for reaching out to the poor households in 21058 villages across the country.
The mission will be launched during 14th April to 5th May, 2018 for universal coverage of seven programmes viz Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli HarGhar Yojana, Ujala Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Mission Indradhanush.
The activities scheduled to be carried during the mission period include Samajik Nyaya Diwas (Social Justice Day) on April 14th to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar, Swachh Bharat Diwas on April 18th, Ujjwala Diwas on April 20th, Rashtriya Panchayat Raj Diwas on April 24th, Gram Swaraj Diwas on April 28th, Ayushmaan Bharat Diwas on April 30th, Kisan Kalyan Diwas on May 2nd and Aajeevika Diwas on May 5th, 2018.
During the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, special day long events will be organised across the State and would involve partnership of various State, Central Government departments and the local communities.
Chief Secretary directed the concerned Administrative Secretaries to prepare activity wise calendar of events setting clear measurable targets besides ensuring that officers/officials, covering all 7 programmes, are deployed in teams to the gram panchayat, block and the district level to ensure success of this mission.
Chief secretary asked Administrative Secretary Rural Development & Panchayati Raj to organise a video conference with DCs on April 9th to ensure better coordination with the district administration.
Meanwhile, Forest Advisory Committee (FAC) headed by Chief  Secretary, B B Vyas cleared several proposals of urgent developmental and public importance, on the specified terms and conditions.
Financial Commissioner Revenue, Lokesh Dutt Jha, Principal Secretary, Finance, Administrative Secretaries of the Departments of Forest, Ecology & Environment, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (HoFF), J&K, Chief Wild Life Warden J&K, Environmentalists, Dr S P Singh Dutta and Dr G A Bhat and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
The proposals cleared included the use of forest land for construction of PMGSY roads in various forest divisions of the State, construction of drinking water supply to Drang village in Tangmarg, construction of tunnel under USBRL Project etc.
While reiterating the directions for ensuring minimum felling of trees and undertaking compensatory afforestation over alternate land in lieu of diversion of forest land, Chief Secretary stressed upon strict supervision and monitoring of approved works in the forest areas. He said cutting of trees/saplings, which constitute a precious forest resource be avoided as far as possible and afforestation plans drawn up to fill up the gaps besides protection works be undertaken to prevent soil erosion.
