SRINAGAR, Oct 9: Chief Secretary, B B Vyas today chaired a meeting to review the implementation of the guidelines on School Safety Policy, 2016, prepared by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
Principal Secretary, Higher Education, Secretary, School Education, Secretary, Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs and Director Disaster Management were present in the meeting.
The primary objective of the School Safety Policy guidelines is to ensure creation of safe learning environment for children and specific actions towards school safety that can be undertaken by different stakeholders within the existing framework for delivery of education.
For effective implementation of the policy, Chief Education Officers (CEOs) have been declared as nodal officers besides steps have been initiated to build the overall capacity of the concerned stakeholders including awareness generation and sensitization in regard to school safety.
It was informed that as part of the International Disaster Risk Reduction Day being observed on October 13, special focus is being given on school safety in the State.
Chief Secretary stressed on ensuring compliance of the school safety guidelines and regular monitoring of implementation on monthly basis.
