JAMMU, Dec 17: Chief Secretary, Mohammad Iqbal Khandey, today directed Deputy Commissioners to ensure disbursement of rent as announced by the Government in favour of all those families, who have preferred to stay in rented accommodations.
Mr. Khandey said initially aggregate rent of three months will be provided to these families and the rent for the 4th month will be released subsequently.
Chairing the weekly meeting to review the rehabilitation measures undertaken by the Divisional and District Administration for the flood affected families, Chief Secretary said that all families who have chosen to stay in temporary shelter sheds shall be provided such suitable facilities. He asked the R&B Department to complete the construction of remaining pre-fab structures within next couple of days, so that families are accommodated in them.
Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu informed that ex-gratia amount of Rs 5 lakh announced by the Government in favour of all those families whose next of kin lost their lives due to September floods has been handed over to the affected people.
While receiving brief from Deputy Commissioners, via video conferencing, Chief Secretary asked them to ensure that 16 digit account number of all affected persons/families is submitted with the divisional administration for further action.
Mr. Khandey emphasized that the relief and rehabilitation of the flood victims will remain priority of the Government and as such directed the administration to continuously keep up their efforts till these people are suitably rehabilitated.
Principal Secretary Planning & Development B.R. Sharma, Principal Secretary Finance, B.B. Vyas, Principal Secretary PDD, A. K. Mehta, and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
