LEH, Apr 4: Chief Secretary of Ladakh, Dr Pawan Kotwal, chaired a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat in Leh to review the upcoming deregulation exercise aimed at improving governance and ease of doing business in the Union Territory.
The initiative aligned with the national agenda of simplifying regulations, reducing compliance burdens, and leveraging technology for better service delivery.
The meeting focused on streamlining bureaucratic procedures to create a more transparent and citizen-friendly governance framework.
Dr Kotwal stressed the need for modernizing administrative processes to ensure efficiency and responsiveness.
He directed all departments to prioritize deregulation and work in coordination for seamless implementation.
He also highlighted the importance of integrating regulatory systems and adopting digital solutions for faster approvals.
A presentation by Agriculture Secretary Bhupesh Chaudhary outlined key aspects of the initiative, including the reduction of compliance burdens, identification of priority areas, and timelines for reforms.
The plan includes setting up a UT-level Single Window System linked to the National Single Window System (NSWS) for hassle-free services and approvals.
Under Phase I, 23 priority areas across nine departments, including Agriculture, Industries & Commerce, Health, Rural Development, and Technical Education, have been identified for reforms.
Each department will appoint a nodal officer to oversee implementation.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from key departments, who discussed steps to ensure smooth execution of the reforms.
The initiative aimed to boost investment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development in Ladakh.
