SRINAGAR, Dec 29: In order to promote the spirit of cleanliness among masses, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) today launched ‘Clean Srinagar Drive’ in collaboration with Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) here.
A spokesperson of the CRPF said the drive aims at cleaning all religious and historical places bearing high tourism potential. The event was inaugurated by IG CRPF Atul Karwal in presence of Joint Commissioner of SMC, Syed Abdul Qasim at Shankaracharya Temple.
While addressing media persons and officers of CRPF and SMC on the occasion, the IG said: “CRPF is always determined to bring about exemplary cleanliness in all tourist places of Srinagar which possess high religious and historical significance. Also we will put best of our endeavours to associate School children and College students with the campaign.”
The Joint Commissioner of SMC praised the noble initiative of CRPF. Voicing his opinion on the campaign, he said: “Indeed it’s a commendable act of social responsibility that CRPF has taken this noble initiative to generate awareness about cleanliness in the city.”
He, however, said the Capital city Srinagar is already clean to larger extent but the concept of associating masses with the drive will definitely generate awareness (particularly among youths) for maintaining cleanliness in such places where lakhs of tourists arrive every year.
The CRPF said it is wholeheartedly committed to extend support to the make Srinagar ‘most favourable tourist destination’ in terms of cleanliness.
