CRPF flags off ‘Bharat Darshan’ tour for Udhampur students

UDHAMPUR, Apr 8: As part of its Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2025-26, the 137 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) today flagged off a “Watan Ko Jano-Bharat Darshan” educational tour for students from the Government Higher Secondary School, Garhi, in Udhampur district.
The six-day tour, scheduled from April 8 to April 13, will take twenty students and two teachers to Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, aiming to expose them to the country’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
The flag-off ceremony was held at the battalion headquarters in Udhampur and was attended by MLA Udhampur West Pawan Kumar Gupta, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range Shiv Kumar, Commandant 137 Battalion MK Sicon, Deputy Commandant Suresh, Assistant Commandant Salma MC, DySP J&K Police Prahald, Principal Renu Kotwal, Teacher HSS Garhi Isha Mehra, and other police personnel and school staff members.
During the event, the participating students were provided with travel kits, including tracksuits, sports shoes, T-shirts, bags, caps, socks, and identity cards.
Speaking on the occasion, Commandant 137 Battalion MK Sicon said the initiative aims to promote national integration, build confidence among youth, and provide learning beyond classrooms through exposure visits.
During the tour, students will visit important cultural and historical sites in Varanasi to gain first-hand experience of India’s diversity.
The programme is part of CRPF’s continued outreach efforts in Udhampur to engage youth positively and strengthen community ties.
Local residents and participants appreciated the initiative and urged the CRPF to continue such programmes in the future.
