CRPF awards artists, donates musical instruments

Srinagar, Mar 30: Paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) today awarded Kashmiri artists and donated sophisticated musical instruments during a function held here.
A CRPF spokesman said in order to acknowledge and promote the unique culture of Kashmir and to assist schools in developing IT-Infrastructure in their institutions, 161 Battalion of the Force today organized one of the most melodious and colourful Civic Action Program at Khonakhan Mohalla at Dalgate.
“Through this event, the CRPF provided a distinguished platform to Kashmiri Folk Artists and Musicians like ‘Kashmir Valley Music and Dance Group’ and ‘Ghulam Muhammad Ahangar and Party’ to showcase their performances before audience,” he said, adding that the the event was presided over by DIG CRPF Srinagar (North) Sanjeev Dhundia and was organized under overall supervision of Commandant 161 Battalion, Ashish Kumar Jha.
The spectators to the event were fascinated by the dazzling performances of Ghulam Ahangar and Party’s Chaste Kashmiri Melodies accompanied with classical instruments like Rubab, Gharha and Sarangi, he said. The spokesman said ‘Kashmir Valley Music and Dance Group’ rocked the dais with their outstanding performances.
“Besides, school children presented ‘Naat’ and folk songs like ‘Lola Bario’ on the occasion. Portraying art of celebrations in Kashmiri society, they also performed Kashmiri ‘Rouf’ dance on the occasion,” he said, adding that the modern musical instruments like Casio Synthesizer, Octapad, Soundboxes and Congo etc. were also donated to ‘Kashmir Dance and Music Group’, for they had sustained huge loss of musical instruments during floods of September 2014.
The spokesman further said: “Besides, computers, peripheral devices, furniture, musical Instruments and other infrastructural equipments were donated to Presentation Co-Education School, Khonakhan and Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Nowpora.”
In another similar event, CRPF’s 49 Battalion also organized a Civic Action Program in Noorbag Government Middle School here where computer, accesories and other infrastructural items were donated to school.
