CRPF ASI injured in grenade attack on ex-MLA’s house in south Kashmir

SRINAGAR: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Assistant Sub-Inspector was injured on Sunday when militants hurled a grenade at the residence of a former MLA in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.
The attack on ex-MLA comes just hours after a woman was killed and another was injured by unidentified gunmen at Tral.
Official sources told UNI that militants lobbed a grenade at the residence of former NC MLA Ghulam Nabi at Tral in Pulwama.
They said a CRPF ASI guarding the residence of Mr Nabi was injured in the attack.
The militants managed to escape, they said, adding security forces were rushed to the area and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers.
The attacks on politicians have gone up from the past one week in south Kashmir.
On October 20, militants lobbed a grenade and fired at the residence of a ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLA Mushtaq Shahin at Tral.
PDP former panch Mohammad Ramzan Sheikh was killed by the militants in south Kashmir district of Shopian October 17. Meanwhile, a militant, Showkat Falahi was killed in a scuffle with family members and neighbours of Sheikh when they tried to overpower the gunmen who killed the former panch.
On October 18, a Special Police Officer (SPO) of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Haleem Gujjar, was killed by militants outside his residence at village Gutroo in Tral. (AGENCIES)
