Cross LoC traders’ meet held at Chakkan-da-Bagh

POONCH, Jan 14:  The traders from Pak occupied Kashmir (PoK)  and  Poonch,  Rajouri and Jammu today discussed their issues during a meeting held at cross LoC point, Chakkan-da-Bagh  today.
Official sources said that the meeting started at around 11.30 AM (IST)  and lasted for about one and half hours at the Trade Facilitation Centre  at the LoC.  A total 175 traders doing business through this cross LoC point  from PoK and this part of J&K, attended the meeting and tried to settle their disputes.
No senior official from Indian or Pakistan side this time joined the meeting but the Trade Facilitation Officer Hajira (PoK)  and TFO (Chakkan-da-Bagh) Poonch  attended the meet. 90 traders from  Poonch and Jammu while 85 from PoK (Muzaffrabad/ Mirpur)  side discussed their outstanding issues and also settled business disputes.
During the meeting both the sides also urged the Governments of  Pakistan and India to allow more items for trade, increase the number of vehicles, improve facilities at this cross LoC point, provide better banking and communication facilities. It was also stressed upon both the Govts to allow hassle free trade by installing full truck body  scanners at this point to avoid lengthy checking  process.
The official said that during cross LoC traders meet held  at Dubai recently, it was resolved to settle disputes amicably by sitting together and discuss the ways to further strengthen trade ties between the two neighbours.
