JAMMU : Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga chaired an introductory meeting of the newly appointed Board of Directors of Khadi and Village Industries Board, here today.
The meeting was attended by Vice-Chairman, KVIB, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain Soharwardy, Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce Shailendra Kumar, Commissioner Secretary RDD Kifayat Hussain Rizvi, Secretary/CEO KVIB, Mir Afroz, Board members Usha Rani, Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, RC Sharma, Masarat Kar, Sabbiya Ara, Shahzad Khan, Parveen Khan, Roop Krishan Shah and other concerned officials.
The Minister while interacting with the participants asked them to chalk out effective strategy for sustained development of KVIB besides implementation of flagship programs and schemes at grassroots level.
Highlighting the role of board members in encouraging the beneficiaries to avail benefits from the schemes of this vital sector, the Minister said that Khadi and its allied sectors are the best medium to uplift the socio-economic status of poor people in rural areas.
The Minister enjoined upon the officers to exploit the vast employment potential by popularizing village industries and other related activities.
Ganga said KVIB has been entrusted with the responsibility of implementation of various schemes of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in the State. He said creating employment avenues was the top priority of the government and industrialization was the foremost means to achieve this goal.
The Minister underscored the need to identify the villages to impart skill development trainings among beneficiaries to carry out business activities with less investment thereby generating self-employment and income.
Ganga said that Government would soon introduce e-Commerce platform to link artisans and weavers of the state with the potential buyers.
Vice-Chairman of KVIB also spoke in length and threw light on KVIB schemes, promotion of khadi and related sector, employment generation besides functioning of the Board.
