KATHUA, Aug 2: Reiterating the old popular demand, the members of several Panchayats from Dinga Amb, Mangloor, Sallan, Bhaiya Mela Kandi belt, presently part of Billawar constituency have urged upon the Government and members of newly constituted Delimitation Commission to create separate Assembly Constituency for Dinga Amb Kandi belt by involving some areas from Billawar, Hiranagar, Samba and Kathua constituencies.
In a meeting of the members of Dinga Amb Panchayat under the leadership Sarpanch Seema Gupta at tehsil headquarters here today following Covid-19 SOPs, the speakers strongly pleaded for creation of separate Dinga Amb Kandi Constituency as this area remained neglected for decades as the MLAs always remained from Billawar area and they focused on the development of only that Billawar and its surroundings. They said many issues of this Kandi belt remained unresolved even after protests and agitations.
Former Sarpanch Dinga Amb Kuldip Gupta and Panch Bhaiya Mela and senior BJP leader Sudesh Kumar Sethu from Bhaiya Mela pointed out that it is great injustice to keep this area with the Billawar which is far away and is more closer to Hiranagar. This is great injustice with the people of this entire Kandi belt. They pointed out that Dinga Amb is the centrally located tehsil headquarters and this area strongly deserves to be a separate constituency. Around 30-35 Panchayats of this area and adjoining four constituencies can be clubbed to create Kandi constituency, they suggested.
They further said that due to domination of Billawar area, this Kandi belt of Dinga Amb, Mangloor, Saida, Koungni, Katli, Kouli, Dabi, Balote, Garh, Pranjali, Pucca Kotha, Sallan, Parngoli, Bhaiyya Mela etc remained neglected for decades. Now since, the Government has started Delimitation exercise, a separate Dinga Amb Kandi Constituency be created for ensuring better development and remove age old discrimination with this belt, they maintained.
They said though Dinga Amb was made Tehsil long back but many Tehsil level offices are yet to be opened here. Even Higher Secondary School, Degree College and Sub District Hospital / CHC are the old demands of the people of this area, they added.
Prominent among those who attended meeting included Seema Gupta (Sarpanch-Dinga Amb), Sarpanch Bhaiya Mela Dali Sharma, Sarpanch Kulbhushan Singh from Mangloor, former Sarpanch Dinga Amb and senior BJP leader Kuldip Gupta, Ravi Abrol, Rakesh Purohit, Vandana Sharma Naib Sarpanch, Varinder Balotra and others.
