CPPWU demands resumption of work on Rattle Project

JAMMU, Dec 12: Chinar Power Projects Workers Union, district Kishtwar, has demanded resumption of work on Rattle Hydro Electric (HE) Power Project.
The demand was raised by the Union during a meeting held today under the chairmanship of Joginder Bhandari. A large number of unemployed youths from all over the district Kishtwar attended the meeting.
In the meeting various issues related to the absorption of unemployed youths in Rattle HE Project were discussed. The participants strongly criticized the management of M/s GVK Power Development for suspending their work over the said project without any solid reason as a result of which hundreds of workers have become jobless.
Addressing the meeting, Joginder Bhandari said that while laying the foundation stone by the then Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh had assured that local unemployed youths of district Kishtwar would be given first priority in employment in the said project but it is a matter of great concern that the executing agency stopped its work over the said project on July 11, 2014 without showing any solid reason.
Alleging that the work of the project had been stopped by the company itself and there was no fault of the workers, the union threatened to come out on the road in case the work is not resumed at an earliest.
Those attended the meeting included Tariq Hussain, Hussain Gannie, Javed Ahmed Malipath, Ashraf Hussain Gannie, Asgar Ali, Akhter Hussain, Rinku Tandulkar, Sunil Sharma, Ram Rattan Sharma, Sat Pal Singh and many others.
