JAMMU, Oct 15: The relay hunger strike of All J&K Central Paramilitary Forces Welfare Association (CPFWA) beside the road opposite to gate of Hari Singh Park, Jammu, entered 35th day, today.
They association is protesting since September 11 against discrimination of the Central Government towards ex-personnel of Paramilitary forces on OROP and various other issues.
Addressing the protesting ex-servicemen, president of the association, KC Bhagat, criticized the DC Jammu and JDA authorities for not granting permission to the association to hold peaceful protest at Press Club Jammu and Hari Singh Park Jammu.
He alleged that due to adamant attitude of DC Jammu and JDA authorities they are bound to stage protest at an open place on road side under scorching heat, dust and pollution, which also claimed the life of one of the members of the association on October 10.
Rejecting the plea of Defence Minister that the personnel of defence forces are retired at very young age while the personnel serving in paramilitary forces retire at the age of 60 years, he said that Government is dividing the soldiers of Country for their petty interests and the association will never bear this and oppose with tooth and nail this discrimination, as all paramilitary forces whether it is BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB or CISF, are also serving the Country with full dedication.
“Therefore we request the Government to stop doing discrimination in soldiers and extend the benefit of OROP at par with defence forces to Central Paramilitary Forces also”, he added.
