Court takes cognizance of medical negligence by SMHS authorities

SRINAGAR, Feb 14: A local court here while taking cognizance of a complaint regarding medical negligence on part of SMHS authorities issued a process against them.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar Raja Tasleem issued process against Principal GMC Srinagar, Medical Superintendent SMHS Super Speciality Hospital, HoD emergency and Cardiology SMHS hospital for Commission of offence under section 304 of IPC.
The complaint has been filed by one Dr Basmati Ganjoo alleging that her husband suffered a sudden massive heart attack and on the direction of Dr Khurshid Iqbal they proceeded for SMHS.
She reiterated that it is regrettable and shameful that many precious moments were lost before my driver could get the wheel chair not a stretcher in the SMHS.
She added that there was no one to guide them where to go and for some time and there was no bed and her husband continued to be on wheel chair which was so determent to his health.
They were kept in cue for ECG and she requested that let the ECG of her husband be done first in view of seriousness of situation. She stated that it was all in vain and during this time her husband died there.
The court after going through the complaint and the material on record said prima facie the case against the accused officials at the helm of affairs for Commission of offence under section 304 is made out and took the cognizance of complaint and issued process against accused persons.
