JAMMU, July 16: City Judge M S Manhas today kept in abeyance the election result of July 12 declaring Romesh Gupta as President of Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha.
This order was passed in a suit filed by Ajay Gupta, Vinod Gupta (present President) and Ashok Gupta through Advocates Aseem Sawhney, Anuj Dewan Raina and Neeraj Singh.
The plaintiffs had filed this suit against Om Parkash Gupta (Election Commissioner) and Romesh Chander Gupta.
After hearing arguments of counsels for the plaintiffs and Anil Mahajan, Kulbushan Sajgotra and R C Sharma for the defendants, City Judge observed, “the plaintiffs have made out a prima facie case for adjudication by the court and have been successful to cast shadow of doubts on process of elections held by the defendants”, adding “in view of the compelling circumstances of the case, the court is constrained to keep in abeyance the result declared on July 12, 2016 till the disposal of main suit”.
“However, parties are at liberty, if they wish to conduct fresh elections”, the court said.
