Court grants police remand of 3 OGWs involved in Ban terror attack

JAMMU, Feb 1: In the much publicized Ban Toll Plaza terror attack, Special Judge NIA Subash Gupta has granted seven days police remand of three Over Ground Workers (OGWs).
These OGWs namely Sartaj Ahmed Mantoo, son of Firdous Ahmed Mantoo, Asif Ahmed Malik, son of Bashir Ahmed Malik and Sameer Ahmed Dar, son of Abdul Rashid, all the residents of Pulwama were produced before the court today for seeking remand.
After going through the application filed by Additional Public Prosecutor Sanjay Kohli seeking 10 days remand and perusal of CD file, court observed, “keeping in view the stage of investigation, submissions made by the IO of the case and the gravity of offences involved in the present matter the police remand of the accused is imperative”.
Accordingly, court remanded accused to police custody for seven days. “Accused persons be provided medical facilities, while they are in police custody during the currency of remand period. Moreover, they should be apprised of their right to engage counsel”, the court added.
