Court grants 14 days remand of Waseem

JAMMU, Feb 15: Special Judge NIA Suneet Gupta today granted 14 days police remand of Oazi Waseem, son of Abdul Rashid Qazi of Pulwama, the second accused who was arrested by police in IED recovery case.
SDPO City North Satish Sharma produced the accused before the court and sought his remand.
After hearing SDPO in person and going through the application, the Special Judge NIA Sunit Gupta observed, “the accused was arrested on 14.02.2021 in case/FIR No.05/2021 Police Station Bus Stand Jammu for offences under Section 4/5 Explosive Act.18/23/ 38/ UA(P) Act & 120-B IPC”, adding “the presence of the accused has been secured through virtual mode and I do not find any kind of external injury on his face or body”.
“The accused is found to be medically examined by the Medical Officer today itself and the medical certificate in this regard also form the part of the remand application. The accused has been duly conveyed with regard to his legal rights. Since the matter is heinous in nature and some important aspects are required to be ascertained in the instant case for which police remand of the accused is required for the purpose of further investigation”, the court said.
Accordingly, accused was remanded to the police custody for 14 days with effect from February 15 and he shall be produced before the court on February 28.
