Court forwards complaint of ARTO to Cyber Police

Srinagar, Feb 4: A court in Baramulla today forwarded the copy of a complaint filed by the ARTO Baramulla against an RTI activist to Cyber Police Station Srinagar for necessary action as per law.
In this regard, the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar forwarded the copy of the complaint to the Cyber police Station after the petitioner ARTO Baramulla Mubashir Jan filed a petition through his Counsel Advocate Salim Yousuf seeking registration of an FIR against the said person.
The petitioner has also sought blockage of social media accounts of one Sirajuddin Salam alias Najar of Kanispora Baramulla who according to the petitioner has uploaded videos on social media against him to malign his image.
The ARTO Baramulla in his petition has claimed that “Sirajuddin Salam is a habitual offender who uses social media networking sites including Facebook with malafide intentions to blackmail Government officials.”
The court was informed that the accused has uploaded “false and baseless videos on social media and has played with his reputation and dignity.”
The counsel while arguing the matter said that the accused has no authority under law to upload any defamatory material against any individual.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar after perusing the record and hearing the counsel for complainant forwarded the copy of complainant to Station House officer Cyber Police Station Kashmir for necessary action as warranted under law.
