Court awards 12 yrs RI in rape, kidnapping case

JAMMU, May 28: Presiding Officer Fast Track Court Sanjeev Gupta today awarded 12 years rigorous imprisonment to one Ravinder Kumar, son of Romesh Chander of Tali Morh Vikas Nagar, who was facing trial for the last 10 years in kidnapping and rape of 14 years old girl.
After hearing APP GS Charak appearing for the State, Presiding Officer observed, “the prosecutrix lived in hotel for three days with the convict and was subjected to repeated sexual intercourse. Even though prosecutrix was a consenting party but she was a minor girl”.
Accordingly, Court awarded five years RI and fine of Rs 2000 under Section 376 RPC and seven years and fine of Rs 5000 under Section 376 RPC. The Court, however, clarified that both the sentences will run concurrently.
