KISHTWAR, July 15: A couple and their three cattle were killed after a landslide hit a mud house in the Bangar Dhar valley of Tehsil Drabshalla.
The deceased were identified as Sadh Mohd, son of Ahamdu and his wife Fatima Begum, resident of Balran Tehsil Bonjwah Kishtwar district.
A relative of the deceased, Ghulam Mohd Masoodi, who is Sarpanch of Panchayat Balgran, told that the couple went to the mud house (dhok) at Bangar Dhar valley on June 28-29 this year with their three cattle and today due to a landslide, the couple and their cattle were crushed to death.
On getting information, police team rushed to the spot and retrieved the bodies of the couple from under the debris.
After completing medical and legal formalities, the bodies of the couple will be handed over to legal heirs for last rites.
Kishtwar Police has also taken cognizance in this regard.
It is pertinent to mention here that the District Administration Kishtwar had issued an advisory due to bad weather condition restricting the people to visit the hilly areas. The schools were to be opened but remained closed due to inclement weather conditions.
