JAMMU, May 14: A young couple was killed and their minor daughter sustained severe injuries in landslide in Ramban district this evening.
Police spokesman said that Abdul Gani, son of Ramzan Khandey and his wife Nazeera Begum along with their three year old daughter were heading towards Mohumangat area in Banihal tehsil when they were hit by landslide at around 4 pm.
On getting information about the incident, army personnel from nearby unit rushed to the spot and started rescue operation. After hectic efforts, army jawans with the assistance of locals recovered the couple and their child from the debris.
All were rushed to Primary Health Centre Khari where couple was declared as brought dead. The condition of three year old child was stated to be out of danger when reports last came in.
Police has taken cognizance of the incident.
