JAMMU, Sept 14: A couple from Jammu’s Sainik Colony area died, while seven other individuals sustained injuries after a Baleno car collided with a roadside railing and thereafter hit a motorcycle on the Ring Road area here today.

Around 16:30 hours, a Baleno car (JK02CV-8213), on way to Vijaypur from Miran Sahib area, collided with a railing, and thereafter hit a motorcycle (JK21H-9306), resulting in injuries to nine persons, including six persons travelling in the four-wheeler, and three, including a minor, on the bike, a police official said.
He said all the injured were shifted to Sub-District Hospital, where one of them, Sunita Devi wife of Dharm Pal of Sainik Colony, Jammu succumbed, while her husband was declared brought dead at Government Medical College Jammu.
According to the police official, the other injured individuals, identified as Anil Samotra son of Dharm Pal of Sainik Colony, Mamta Choudhary Baloria wife of Nishant Baloria, her minor daughter Paresha Baloria, Nishant Baloria son of Madhu Pal of Gaghwal, Kathua, whose age was not known immediately, Suresh Kumar (45) son of Devi Dass of Supwal, Samba, his wife Reeta Devi, and son Kunal (9) are responding to the treatment in the hospital.
While the bodies of the deceased individuals have been shifted to the hospitals for conducting the post-mortem examinations, police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the law at Police Station Bishnah and started further investigations into the matter.
