RAJOURI, May 28: Three persons including couple, were killed while two minor girls seriously injured when a car met with an accident near Charhan village in Palma area, on Rajouri-Kandi-Budhal Road in district Rajouri this afternoon.
A police spokesman said that mishap took place at around 1.30 pm when the ill-fated Maruti (Alto) car bearing registration No. JK11B/1196 was on its way to Rajouri from Kotranka. Maqbool Ahmed (45), working as Medical Assistant at Kotranka Hospital was driving the car while his relative Manzoor Hussain (40), a CRPF personnel was sitting with him at front seat. Gulzar Begum, wife of Manzoor and his 3 -year- old daughter, Saida and another girl Shagufta (15), daughter of Barqat Hussain, resident of Kot Dharra were travelling towards Rajouri.
The speeding vehicle went out of control at a sharp curve near Charhan village near Tralla hamlet and rolled down into 100 feet gorge. While Manzoor Ahmed, son of Hakal Din; hailing from Kotdharra and Maqbool Ahmed, son of Mir Hussain were killed on the spot, the third victim died while being shifted to Jammu hospital.
People of the area rushed to the spot immediately after coming to know about the accident and also informed Rajouri police. The three injured were rushed to District Hospital, Rajouri. Critically injured Gulzar Begum, wife of Manzoor Hussain was referred to Govt Medical College, Hospital Jammu but she succumbed to injuries near Chingus hardly 20 kms ahead of Rajouri. Her body was brought back to Rajouri hospital. The dead bodies of Manzoor and Maqbool were also removed to the mortuary of Rajouri hospital for postmortem. The injured Saida and her relative 15-year-old Shagufta, were also later referred to GMC Hospital, Jammu. The police said that over speeding was said to be the reason behind the accident.
