Countering climate change

Sir,
This has reference to “Responding to climate change” DE Jan 6. It has very rightly says that ever since the Industrial Revolution incepted nearly 150 years ago, man made activities have increased greenhouse cases to the atmospheric air.
The editorial is further eleborates that the concentrations of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide have enhanced tremendously between years 1750 to 2000.
It is, however, remarkable to note that methane is one of the most important greenhouse gases as its global warming potential is 25 times higher than carbon dioxide. Methane is mainly produced from the guts of livestock, the burning of the vegetation and paddy fields. Nitrous oxide, through conversion of nitric oxide, adds to depletion of stratospheric ozone. Like methane, nitrous oxide also contributes to global warming which is the main cause of change of climate.
The results of climate change are not just merely warmer weather, but an erratic climate.
And if it is not checked would cause pervasive natural disasters including extinction of species both of fauna and flora.
Production of agricultural crops will also be affected. This is the reason why each and every state is required to have the draft action plan, regarding change of climate, which stands well elaborated in the aforesaid editorial.
Yours etc…
