Counterfeit currency recovered

SRINAGAR, July 14: Police today recovered Rs 2. 06 lakh counterfeit Indian currency in Bomai area of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Police arrested a man at Goripora Darpora Crossing in the area this evening during naka checking.
Police saw two persons approaching from Rashidabad side towards Bomai and on seeing naka party the duo tried to flee. “However the party deployed tactfully apprehended one person on the spot”, a police officer said.
He was identified as Ghulam Hussain Lohar son of Wali Mohammad Lohar, a resident of Devar Lolab Kupwara. “Rs 2.06 lakh counterfeit Indian currency was recovered from his possession”, police said.
Police added that arrested person has disclosed the identity of the fleeing suspect as Ali Mohammad Mir, resident of Janwara Sopore.
An FIR (No. 57/2020 U/S 489B, 489C) was registered at Police Station Bomai and further investigations taken up in this regard.
