Sir,
This has reference to the recent visit of Chinese President, Xi Jing ping to India. Govt. acted beyond the call of protocol to extend the warmest ever reception to a foreign dignitary on our soil. The visit shall be reckoned as successful in the context of mutual trade and investment in vital sectors of National Economy which is imperative to give a fillip to the Economic growth and prosperity of two Asian Giants. This is a kind of symbiotic trade relationship. Unarguably and undoubtedly the two neighbours share age old cultural heritage and deep rooted business affinity. China has high stakes in Indian market which is synonymous with their life line for survival and dominant existence on worldly landscape. However notwithstanding the whole gamut of niceties of the Xi’s visit we need to pursue exceedingly cautious approach to deal with China in terms of diplomacy which is not instant coffee as was said by a senior officer of the Ministry of External Affairs.
Historically speaking, Chinese leadership is not trustworthy. We supported them for permanent seat in the UNO, mutually agreed to relegate animosity to the backburner and tread ahead as per princeples of Panchsheel but in a nasty response they invaded us in 1962, grabbed good chunk of our border land, annexed Tibet and in true spirit of their expansionist pursuits they are laying claim on Arunachal Pradesh and on regular intervals they stage manage the unauthorized intrusions into our territory to exert diplomatic pressure on our Govt. In the backdrop of these misadventures of China we shall have to address the border issue from the position of power and authority and not from the lying down stance. We have to make them understand that their bullying tactics are no more acceptable. China’s intentional border vibrations shall have to be ruthlessly blunted in the language they understand to push them on the back foot.
Yours etc…
