Corruption charges framed against Patwari

JAMMU, Feb 23: Additional Sessions Judge Anticorruption Kathua Kamlesh Pandit today framed corruption charges against Romesh Chander, son of Bishan Dass of Lohai Malhar, the then Patwari Halqa Bhaddu Tehsil Billawar, who was caught red-handed by the Anticorruption Bureau while accepting bribe Rs 10,000 from the complainant for issuance of Fard.
After hearing both the sides, the court observed, “it is prima facie proved by the prosecution at this stage that accused person was demanding illegal gratification from complainant for the issuance Fard (revenue extract) and regarding which successful trap was laid against the accused person for proving demand and acceptance of bribe”.
“This court has no reason to differ with the conclusion arrived at by the investigating officer as there are grounds for presuming that accused person has committed the offence alleged to has been committed by him , so accused person is liable to be charged accordingly”, the court said.
