JAMMU, Nov 7: Special Judge Anticorruption CBI Cases, B L Bhat today framed charges against Colonel Kunwar Vijay Partap, Commander 35 BRTF and Jatinder Kumar Singh, Executive Engineer 35 BRTF, who were caught red-handed by the CBI team on November 29, 2011 while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 23000 from the complainant for releasing payment of Rs 14.58 lakh.
According to the CBI case, a complaint was made by C V Singh, representative of M/s Santokh Electric Works, Batmaloo Adda mentioning that they supplied 121 maintenance free lead acid batteries to 35 BRTF for Rs 15,35,490 but Colonel Kunwar Vijay Partap, Commander 35 BRTF and Jatinder Kumar Singh, Executive Engineer Deputy Commander were not releasing payment and demanding bribe of Rs 23,000 as commission at the rate of 1.5% of the bill amount.
Upon this, CBI registered a case and constituted a trap team headed by SP Dr Amandeep Singh. The team laid trap and caught red-handed both the accused. They were later released on bail on December 7, 2011.
While framing charges, the Court directed the CBI to adduce evidence by examining its listed witnesses.
