Corrupt, elements with moral turpitude will get no second chance in Army: Rawat

NEW DELHI: Asserting that he will focus on building a professional and disciplined force, new Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat today passed on a strong signal to the rank and file that the corrupt and elements having moral turpitude will not be spared.

“Repeat offenders, corrupts and elements with moral turpitude will get no second opportunity,” Gen Rawat said, in an exclusive interview. This is for the first that the new Army, who took over the reins of the 1.3 million-strong Indian Army on January 1, has conveyed a tough message to those who may deviate from the set course disciplined force.

He said while dealing with cases like scuffle involving army soldiers during their train journey need to be dealt with careful scrutiny, going deep into the matter before taking strictest action as the situation might differ case to case.

“But the repeat of such behavior or indulging in any kind of corrupt practices will not be condoned,” the Army Chief said as he spelt out his priorities and plans for his tenure. (AGENCIES)
