Corps of Military Police celebrates 76th Raising Day

UDHAMPUR, Oct 18: The Corps of Military Police (CMP) of Army’s Northern Command, which is responsible for assisting in maintenance of good order and movement of men material and vehicles, celebrated its 76th Raising Day today.
To commemorate the momentous occasion and to celebrate the Corps Day various functions were held by the Military Police personnels as a forum to rededicate themselves to render yeomen service to the Nation.
On the occasion, Lt Gen DS Hooda, GOC-in-C, Northern Command complimented all ranks and their families of the Corps of Military Police and exhorted them to continue to live upto the motto of the Corps “SEWA TATHA SAHAYATA”.
The Corps of Military Police was raised on   October 18, 1940.  The Army’s Northern Command has more than 40 major and minor Military Police units which provide Provost Cover in Counter Insurgency/Counter Terrorist and High Altitude Operational Areas.  Apart from basic military training, every military police man is imparted provost, signal and driving cum maintenance training before he finally passes out of the training centre to join his assigned unit.
In Northern Command, inspite of challenging operational area, all Military Police units are performing remarkably by providing effective Provost cover.  The Corps has served with distinction in all operations that the Army has been involved in.   The Military Police is also extending assistance to civilian and civil administration as part of their job.
