Cordon, searches in Shopian

SRINAGAR, May 10: Security forces today launched searches for the militants responsible for the grenade attack in Shopian town yesterday in which 15 people were injured.
Reports said that Police and Army cordoned off Mimander area of Shopian this evening after reports of Waseem Malla, a top Hizbul Mujahideen commander, hiding in the area. The cordon and search operation was going on when reports last came in.
It may be mentioned here that Police yesterday said that HM was responsible for the grenade attack in Shopian in which 15 persons were injured.
Security forces last evening cordoned off Malik Gund and conducted searches in the area for about an hour. The cordon was lifted but later during the night the area was again cordoned off. However, no one was arrested.
Militants yesterday threw a grenade at a police party at a busy market place in Shopian injuring 15 people including a minor girl.
