RAMBAN, Mar 16: On the directions of SSP Ramban, Anuj Kumar, Police teams from Police Stations Ramban and Ramsoo intercepted three vehicles transporting bovines to Kashmir.
On checking these vehicles it was found that 68 bovines were loaded with cruelty and without any provision for food and water and this transportation also lacked permissions from the competent authority.
Meanwhile, a Police party from Police Station Dharamkund also foiled a bovine smuggling bid and arrested two smugglers who were taking 11 bovines on foot towards Kashmir.
As a result, a total of 79 bovines were rescued by Police under operation Kamdhenu and FIR No. 52/2024 and 53/2024 were registered at Police Station Ramban, FIR No. 35/2024 at Police Station Ramsoo and FIR No. 12/2024 at Police Station Dharamkund under Sections 188 IPC and under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
The investigation has been initiated into these cases and five persons were arrested and three vehicles involved in the crime were seized.
