Cops, chemist clash over minor issue

JAMMU, Oct 16: A man was injured when some police officials thrashed him over a minor issue.
According to the victim, who has been identified as Jagjit Singh, son of Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Sainik Colony and runs a chemist shop near Surya Chowk in Channi Himmat area of city; two police constables of Channi Himmat Police Station beaten him ruthlessly this evening after he objected to verbal abuse of one of them following a minor issue of car parking on front of his shop.
However, SDPO East, Mohd Rafiq Manhas, said that the man misbehaved and even abused the on duty police constables when while clearing traffic on the busy road they asked one of his (chemist’s) female customers to remove the car, which was parked on road side in front of his shop.
“He even clashed with the police constables and tore out the uniform of one of them”, the SDPO said adding this infuriated the police constables and they slapped him and even used the cane to control him, as he was becoming more violent.
The officer said that a case in this regard has been registered against the chemist at police station Channi Himmat.
