UDHAMPUR, Jan 12: A Head Constable of Jammu and Kashmir Police ended his life by shooting himself with his service rifle at District Police Lines (DPL) Udhampur, late this evening.
The Head Constable, identified as Mushtaq Ahmed of Kishtwar shot himself with his service rifle AK-47 around 9.05 pm inside Police Lines. Hearing the gun shot, other policemen rushed to the spot and found Mushtaq Ahmed lying in a pool of blood.
He was rushed to the District Hospital Udhampur where doctors declared him as brought dead. The AK-47 bullet had pierced into his chest.
Cause behind the extreme step could not be ascertained while Police has registered a case in this connection for further investigation.
